A woman in her thirties died on the M4 westbound between junctions 8/9 and 10 on Wednesday night. Thames Valley Police wants dashcam footage from that stretch.

Thames Valley Police is asking anyone who drove the M4 west of Maidenhead on Wednesday evening to check their dashcam.

A woman in her thirties died in a collision on the westbound carriageway at about 9pm on Wednesday 9 September. The force’s appeal places it “between junctions 8/9 and 10”, the stretch that runs from Maidenhead to Winnersh. It has not said where along that stretch the crash happened.

The collision involved a white Mercedes 220 and a white Scania heavy goods vehicle. The driver of the Mercedes died at the scene. The force says her next of kin have been informed. It has not named her.

Shortly afterwards a second collision happened on the eastbound carriageway, involving a grey Kia Sorento.

What the investigating officer has asked for

Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is the investigating officer. She said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this extremely difficult time.

“We are appealing for anyone with information or witnesses who may have been at the scene and have not yet spoken to us, to please get in touch.

“I also ask any drivers who were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage to review it, as it may contain important information about the collision or the moments leading up to it.”
