Rated 1 and 3

Business Where Rating Inspected
Monita’s Food RG2 postcode, no address published 1, major improvement necessary 24 September
Cafe Destino Wokingham Railway Station, Station Approach, RG40 2AP 3, generally satisfactory 23 September
Two Shots RG40 postcode, no address published 3, generally satisfactory 24 September

The register gives no street address for Monita’s Food or Two Shots, only the postcode district. Both are listed as “Retailers - other”.

The register shows the scores behind each rating. On this scale a lower score is better. Hygiene and structure run from 0 to 25, and confidence in management from 0 to 30.

  • Monita’s Food scored 5 for hygiene, 5 for structure and 20 for confidence in management, its weakest area by some way.
  • Cafe Destino and Two Shots each scored 10 for hygiene, 5 for structure and 10 for confidence in management.

None of the three has posted a right to reply on the register. A business can appeal a rating within 21 days, and can ask for a re-inspection once it has made improvements, so a rating can change.

How the borough compares

Wokingham lists 1,126 businesses on the register. Of those, 858 hold a 5. Fourteen hold a 1 or 2, and none holds a 0 (FSA register, Wokingham). The rest are rated 3 or 4, exempt, or waiting for a first inspection.

What it means for you

  • Check a rating before you order at ratings.food.gov.uk. Businesses in England do not have to display their sticker, so the register is the reliable place to look.
  • A rating is a snapshot of one inspection day. It covers hygiene, the state of the premises and how the business manages food safety, not the quality of the food.
  • Low ratings can take a few weeks to reach the register because of the appeal window, so some October inspections may not be listed yet.
  • If you have a concern about a food business, report it to Wokingham Borough Council’s environmental health team at environmental.health@wokingham.gov.uk.
