Cressida Cowell opens the Children's Book Festival on 17 October, Dinton After Dark is on Halloween and the fireworks on 7 November. 40 dated events.
The two biggest dates in the next six weeks sit either side of half term. The Wokingham Children’s Book Festival fills the Town Hall and the library on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, and Cressida Cowell opens it. The fireworks at Cantley Park follow on Saturday 7 November, with the torchlight procession through the town first. In between, half term runs from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, Dinton Pastures has something on almost every day of it, and Halloween night brings both Dinton After Dark and Twyford’s bonfire.
Every listing below was read on 3 October 2026 from the organiser’s own page, or the town council’s Love Wokingham calendar, and each one links back to it. Prices are given only where the organiser publishes them. Dates can change, so use the link before you set off.

Two things to know before you book
Paulo’s Circus has two sets of dates in circulation. The countryside service, which runs Dinton Pastures, lists the circus from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October. The town council’s Love Wokingham calendar lists it from 2 to 11 October, with tickets at £9 to £14, and both describe a two-weekend stay. The circus’s own booking page blocked our checks, so we have listed only the dates both sources share. If you are hoping to go this weekend, confirm with the circus first.
Wokingham Theatre’s home page says The Welkin runs 14 to 24 October. Its box office shows why the public run is shorter: the performance on Wednesday 14th is a private charity night, and there is no show on Sunday 18th.
Coming later
The Winter Carnival is on Sunday 29 November and doubles as the Christmas lights switch-on. The Christmas fairs page has the December dates, the pantomime page has Snow White on 29 and 30 December, and the Santa’s grotto page tracks the Dinton bookings. For places that are open whatever the month, see things to do in Wokingham. Driving in? Our parking page has the tariffs and the roadworks page has the closures.
